TECHNIQUES OF ANALYSIS

Since real advances in lipidology could be made through developments in methodology, a comprehensive review of different aspects of lipid analysis will be given here.

The most pertinent methodologies are retained but new ones will be selected and proposed on the basis of published information, personal communications or experimental works in our lab.

This part of the cyberlipid site is devoted to information contributing to solve the following questions:

  1. How to preserve and extract lipids?
  2. What amount of lipids is present in the sample ?
  3. How to fractionate a natural lipid extract?
  4. What are the components present within each fraction?
  5. What amounts of each component are present in the lipid extract?

All the content of this technical part is aimed at the beginner in lipid analysis, whether student in chemistry, biology, but more advanced surfers may also find precious recipes for their research activities…

1- EXTRACTION HANDLING OF EXTRACTS

2- ESTIMATION OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF LIPIDS

3- FRACTIONATION OF COMPLEX EXTRACTS

4- ANALYSIS OF SIMPLE OR NEUTRAL LIPIDS

5- ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX LIPIDS
